Updates on Some of Our Previous Reads

Hey there!  A lot of our previous selections are in the news and I wanted to share some it with you.  If you like this kind of post and would like to see more of them, please let me know in the comments section below!

A Song of Ice and Fire

I know it hasn't been that long since we were talking about this series, but I'm going to talk about it some more.  First, if you aren't already addicted to Sporcle, I don't recommend going there because it will suck away any and all free time you have.  They have a section dedicated to ASoIaF quizzes- including one called "Taking the Black" in which you have to figure out all of the words to the oath of the Night's Watch.  I played it for weeks before I finally got them all.  Check out all the quizzes here.

Second, although we are a book club, I would be remiss not to talk about the hit TV show that this series has spawned.  The show, Game of Thrones, has been nominated for 11 Emmy awards, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister).  E! Online ranked the episode "Blackwater" as the #1 must see before the Emmys.  It is an amazing episode.  Don't forget to watch the Emmys on September 23rd at 7pm to root for the show and the Imp!

More updates below!

Fifty Shades of Grey

The library finally has the Fifty Shades trilogy!  We've got two copies of Fifty Shades of Grey and one copy each of Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.  Call at any of the branches to put them on hold today to get a good spot on the waiting list!

iTunes has released an album of classical music, selected by EL James, go with the book.  Check it out here.  Some of the reviews I've seen say that even if you're not a fan of the books, this is a great compliation of classical music.

A Discovery of Witches

This is really moderately old news, but the sequel to A Discovery of Witches was released earlier this summer.  Shadow of Night picks up right where ADoW left off- newly empowered witch Diana and vampire Matthew travel back in time to find out more on the origins of Ashmole 782 and to find a witch to tutor Diana in her new powers.  It already has a rating of 4.03 stars (out of 5) on GoodReads.  The Ladysmith branch has a copy if you'd like to check it out!

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Although our trip to see the movie didn't happen, we'll soon be able to watch it in the comfort of our own homes.  The DVD and Blu-ray will release on October 23rd.

Those are all the updates I have for now.  If you've heard something I missed here, let everyone know in the comments section below!
